Spatial Plan for Provincial Strategic Areas: Socio-Cultural Perspectives
(The Historic Old Banten Site and the Baduy Tribal Community Areas)
Project
summary.
This project represents a strategic effort to maintain balance between cultural heritage preservation and regional development directions. We were entrusted with developing a provincial strategic area spatial plan, with a focus on the historic site of Banten Lama and the customary lands of the Baduy indigenous community — both of which carry profound local wisdom and cultural significance.
Through an approach deeply sensitive to social and cultural dimensions, we integrated cultural heritage protection with adaptive and sustainable spatial planning. In-depth analysis was conducted to ensure that every development directive continues to respect traditional values, preserve the authenticity of the area, and support the well-being of local communities.
The resulting plan serves as a critical foundation for guiding spatial utilization that harmonizes preservation, development, and cultural identity — while reinforcing the area’s position as a high-value strategic regional asset for the future.
